Summary: The Palestinians asked U.N to recognize a non-member state of Palestine in the Israeli-occupied West Bank and east Jerusalem, and the Hamas-ruled Gaza strip. U.N General Assembly has voted and upgrading Palestinian's status was approved by the 139 members with 41 abstentions. However, the tension is running high, as Israel and the United States warn the move could delay peace in the region. Palestine needed U.N. recognition to be able to resume negotiations with Israel. But United States think increasing Palestinian's role in the UN is absolutely the wrong approach, because Israel is one of American's closest allies, and any movement strengthen one of its fiercest enemies must not be tolerated."
Opinion: Since United States is a permanent country of the United Nation, and is powerful country, UN cannot ignore the United State's opinion. But still it can be a very big issue because the middle east countries make the conflicts. Since it can threaten many countries, it need more consideration and UN should distribute and share power to countries equally and try their best to keep world peace by cooperating with other countries.
